Leadership Development

Ongoing cycles of organizational and individual transition require successful companies to continually prepare their leaders to face new challenges. At the same time, high performing individuals look for opportunities to learn, grow, and hone their skills. van Bark Consulting emphasizes three modalities to support the leadership development needs of its clients.

Team Development

During periods of change, leadership teams tend to lose focus and often pursue individual agendas. Performance is maximized when leadership teams buy into and become accountable for shared business goals. A tailored process for an intact team may include:

• Training in Giving and Receiving Feedback in order to keep lines of communication open and ensure engagement and ownership of results.

• Development Planning to identify individual and team opportunities for growth, measure results, and foster accountability.

• ‘Managing Conflict’ seminar to help teams develop a common model and language for resolving and renegotiating conflicts that arise.

• Creating Camaraderie and Trust through action learning exercises and tasks that foster communication and understanding.

Group Learning

Based on organizational goals and objectives, group learning is used to enhance knowledge and encourage collaboration for broader groups of participants. Group learning activities support the development of individual management and team competencies and utilize a variety of approaches such as workshops, business simulations, roundtables, and focus sessions. Particular emphases of group learning may include:

• ‘Relating to People Relates to Success’ Workshop. The most effective tool for management success is our relationships. And since we are the common thread in all of our relationships, it makes sense that the process of improving our skills as managers should begin with us. This 2-day workshop will help managers use an understanding of “how they are with others” and “how they are with themselves” to achieve business success.

• ‘The Emotionally Intelligent Workplace’ provides training and assessment in using emotional intelligence in business. This 1-day workshop combines exercises, training, and discussion in how to apply and develop greater emotional intelligence in individuals, teams, and organizations.

Coaching

Coaching is used to promote development and growth in individuals and teams through a focus on behavior change and business results. Coaching involves collaboration with organizational leaders, development planning, one-on-one meetings, and performance reviews.
